You love peace and solitude, enjoy observing things in nature, like the steady circling of the paddles, and the gentle gliding over the water? Moving your paddle boat for a short distance is not a problem for you? Then hop on the train, get off at Wendisch Rietz, get into a canoe, enjoy the change in perspective from the water, and let our late riser canoe tour guide you through rarely frequented lakes, narrow streams, and quaint canals of the Glubigseenkette.Your highlights:Relaxing: idyllic and peaceful paddle round trip with almost no noisy motorboatsNature at eye level: passing by grey herons, cormorants, grass snakes, and huge fields of water liliesDiverse: ideal combination of large and small lakes, small streams, wild nature and lots of forest, shallow and deep shore areas, beautiful rest stops with culinary offeringsEasy: rental of 1-person and 2-person+child kayaks or canoes for up to 4 people in Wendisch RietzStarting point and endpoint: Wendisch Rietz train stationLength: 13 km / approx. 3hPublic transport access: RB24 or S-Bahn to Königs-Wusterhausen, then RB36 to Wendisch Rietz. Return journey in reverse. In the Dahme-Heideseen Nature ParkAt the southern end of Lake Scharmützel begins a wonderful but rarely visited chain of lakes. The Kleiner- and Großer Glubigsee and the Springsee, which are lonely even in summer and closed to motorboat traffic, offer you pure relaxation and a unique nature experience. This chain of Glubigseen with a total of 5 lakes originated from an ice-age meltwater channel. Lake Scharmützel, also known as the Märkisches Meer, is part of the water chain and is the starting point of your late riser paddle tour in the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park.Starting in Wendisch RietzTo give your legs something to do, you start with a short half-hour hike. After the regional train has taken you to Wendisch Rietz, you walk through the holiday village popular especially with families to the lakeside promenade. At Surf & Fun, youll find the suitable boats and set off on the water. The first stretch takes you to Lake Scharmützel and to its southernmost end, where you follow the passage to Glubigsee. The automated lock is currently not functioning, but a short portage over a few steps and a few meters of grass is easily manageable.Through the enchanted Glubig-Melang streamThe connecting canals between the lakes are particularly enjoyable. You will immediately be greeted by beautiful water lilies, which you will see in impressive numbers on your tour. Take a moment and look closely: water beetles and various dragonfly species like to take breaks on the water lilies, which especially in June and July are in full bloom. An impressive sight. Grey herons stand motionless on the shore, with luck you might see a marsh harrier in the trees. Swimming grass snakes can also be observed. Small perch frolic in the depths, pikes lurk in the vegetation, there are crayfish near the shore, a sign of good water quality. The Great Glubigsee lying in front of you is surrounded by pine and deciduous forests, here and there also by a few dachas and mooring docks. Everything is absolutely quiet, no motorboats, no waves, except for the gentle breeze that ruffles the water here and there.SpringseeContinuing through the stream, you arrive at the particularly clear Springsee. Local divers love the good underwater visibility here. The lake is fed by two springs, the inflows of which you will find on the east bank. The outlets are official natural landmarks that you can also visit. On the secluded and hilly west bank of the Springsee, forest enthusiasts can see special North American tree species that were planted for testing purposes in the 1960s. Solitude was also welcome here for other purposes in the past: on this side of the lake there was a secret facility of the GDR State Security, where members of terrorist groups received military training. Today it is a restricted area of the Bundeswehr. For you, however, a break at the nature campsite on the southern shore and halfway along the route is recommended. A snack and a nice bathing spot for landing invite you to stop over.Greetings from ScandinaviaBack at the lock, we recommend making a short stop at the small Glubigsee. Located at the tip of a small peninsula is the idyllic Fischaus. You can dock directly at the thatched house and try out great fish dishes on the terrace or grab a fish sandwich to go.If you have time, after setting off again, a detour to the harbor area of Wendisch Rietz is also worthwhile. The many red wooden huts on the shore evoke a maritime, Scandinavian atmosphere.Plan your late riser hiking tour to the Glubigseen now!For your planning: Be sure to make a reservation at the Surf & Fun canoe rental station!
