Description by the author

For centuries, the people of the Lausitz region lived from lignite mining. Today, the countryside between mining and redevelopment - which the 500-kilometre Prince Pueckler Cycle Path shows you - has a charm all of its own. The area currently offers a very special mix of old cultural landscapes, still active surface mining and “new” land. The tour takes you through the contemporary history of the Lausitz region, passing traditional settlements and villages, castles and parks as well as imposing industrial monuments.Length: 508 kilometres (Brandenburg section - 472 kilometres)Start/finish: the tour can be started anywhereLogo/route sign: The route sign is a blue diamond against a white background. How to get there: each of the towns/cities mentioned is no more than 2.5 hours away by train or carRoute: Cottbus/Branitz, Forst, Bad Muskau, Kromlau, Schleife, Spremberg, Senftenberg, Lauchhammer, Lauchhammer, Plessa, Elsterwerda, Bad Liebenwerda, Doberlug-Kirchhain, Lichterfeld/F60, Sallgast, Großräschen, Pritzen, Altdöbern, Fürstlich Drehna, Luckau, Calau, Raddusch, Burg, Peitz, CottbusPossible combinations:FR5Gherkin Cycle PathLower Lusatian Mining TourOder-Neiße Cycle PathHistoric Town Centres Cycle Routes 5Historic Town Centres Cycle Routes 6Schradeln (Schraden Cycling Tour)Schwarze Elster Cycle PathLakeland RouteSpree Cycle PathTour BrandenburgTrail conditions/surface: The path takes you along asphalted cycle paths far away from road traffic.
