Pottery has been produced in Görzke for over 300 years. Perhaps you can combine your hike with a visit to one of the five ceramics workshops still in operation in this pottery village.Length: 9 kilometres (two to three hours)Start/Finish: Görzke, HandwerkerhofLogo/route sign: Brown jug on a white squareHow to get there:Train: Take the RE1 (Magdeburg) from Berlin central station to Brandenburg an der Havel. From here, take bus 559 to Görzke (about two hours).Car: From Berlin via the A115, A10, A2 and the L94 to Görzke (about one and a half hours).Route description: Start from the Handwerkerhof. The lovingly restored farmyard is home to various museums and a farm shop. Soon, you leave the village behind you and “climb” Hahnenberg along a dirt track with colourful wildflowers. Take a last look back at the village with its striking chimneys before you head uphill through the animated landscape.
You cross an old meadow orchard and then come to a steep valley system. First, you hike along the upper edge of the valley. After crossing the country road, however, you will find yourself back on the valley floor. From there on, its upwards along the sandy pathways. Water gushes along the path here when it rains. When you get to the top, a quiet, open landscape where red kites circle. The hike then goes steeper and steeper downhill - You will have reached another dry valley. These branching valley systems get their names from the many sagas and stories about them, for example Brautrummel near Grubo.People from Görzke simply call “their” dry valley “die Delle” (the dip). The Buckau river rises at the end but the route does not go that far. Just before Heidehof, the pathway turns off and climbs up a very steep, small slope. Once you get to the top, you should definitely take a break because the view is breathtaking: It is reminiscent of the "rolling hills" of England: A rise and fall of hills and knolls. You will soon catch sight of Görzke, nestled into the valley floor, and pass through the centre of the village. Once you get back to the Handwerkerhof, a detour to the Slavic fortress is well worth it.Possible combinations: Burgenwanderweg trailCondition of the trail/surface: partially sandy pathsMaps/Literature: "Topographische Freizeitkarte - Wandern, Reiten, Radfahren Naturpark Hoher Fläming", 1:50.000, Verlag: Landesvermessung und Geobasisinformation Brandenburg, Auflage: Neuauflage.
