From Königs Wusterhausen to Lake Motzen - here you are, nature and water all to yourself (16 km, approx. 4 - 5 hours pure driving time). From the lock on the Notte Canal in Königs Wusterhausen, the Notte Canal leads through meadows and farmland, which are lined with dense rows of trees and hedges near the banks. The canal was inaugurated in 1850 and served to tow barges loaded with building materials to and from Berlin. After the locks, paddle boats have the opportunity to turn south into the Galluner Canal towards Motzen. Lake Motzen is a small, shallow lake surrounded by forest with water sports facilities and beaches. Due to its shallow water depth, the lake is a popular spot for surfers.Land excursion:Mittenwalde: old salt market, historical buildings, St. Moritz Church, local museum (landing stage at the entrance to the village)Motzen: golf course, Haus des Gastes (tourist information & local museum), St. Martins Church, milestone pillar, village entrance nautical information: The lock on the Notte Canal in Königs Wusterhausen is opened in summer without prior notice by the lock keeper. The Notte Canal has a water depth of partially one meter at low water levels. The drawbridge 200 m behind the lock is opened by the lock keeper in summer without prior notice. The Notte Canal is partially heavily overgrown in summer. Both locks in Mittenwalde can be passed in summer without prior notice! The Galluner Canal has a water depth of only 0.9 meters at low water levels.
