The city of Müllrose can also be discovered from the water. Müllrose, known as the Gateway to the Schlaubetal, is famous for its beautiful large Müllroser Lake. However, there is also a water connection between the Little Müllroser Lake and Lake Katharinensee, which leads directly through Müllrose and offers optimal conditions for a canoe tour with the family. In just 1.5 hours, the city can be discovered from a completely different perspective.Start: Little Müllroser LakeDestination: Lake KatharinenseeLength/Duration: 3 or 6 km (round trip) // approx. 1.5h or 3hArrival/Departure: Public transport: From Berlin main station take the RE1 to Frankfurt (Oder), then take the RB36 (Königs Wusterhausen) to Müllrose (approx. 1.5h)Car: From Berlin via the A113 and A12 to Müllrose (approx. 1.5h).Tour description:The Marina Schlaubetal on the Little Müllroser Lake is the starting point. It is only 300 meters away from the Müllrose Old Town Market.Tip: At the Müllrose Old Town Market, you can find the House of Guests, the Schlaubetal Information Center, the Museum, and the Baroque Parish Church. Also worth visiting is the historic fire station from 1925 with its wooden hose tower, located just around the corner on Schiffbauerstraße.The Little Müllroser Lake is crossed towards the Oder-Spree Canal. After 600 meters, the canal, an important waterway between Poland and Berlin, is left again in the direction of Lake Katharinensee. The Oder-Spree Canal flows further to Fürstenwalde and Königs Wusterhausen, via Dahme and Spree into Berlin. The canal is mainly used for the transport of goods by commercial shipping. The beauty of the poplar-lined watercourse in Katharinengraben quickly calms body and mind. Once the Bahnhofstraße has been passed under, Lake Katharinensee is reached. Now there is a beautiful lake that lies just 200 meters east of the Great Müllroser Lake. A picnic on the beach of Lake Katharinensee with sunbathing area, boat and bicycle rental, as well as a guesthouse with a conservatory and outdoor terrace, rounds off a relaxing family day perfectly. The lake is also very suitable for fishing.Tip: The romantic Schlaubetal extends from Müllrose towards the southeast. Untouched forests, large meadows, numerous small idyllic lakes, the Schlaube with fish ladders, historic mills, and nature trails offer the perfect nature experience. Here, many Berliners seek refuge from the noise of the city in their leisure time and on weekends to enjoy the pristine nature and soothing silence. The Schlaubetal hiking trail is a must for those who want to explore the nature park on foot. The 25 km long hiking trail from Müllrose to Lake Wirchensee was awarded the title Quality Trail Hikeable Germany by the German Hiking Association.Nautical information: Quiet waters with little traffic or obstacles such as locks.
