Description by the author

Gravel through Baden-Württemberg once.

Grandiose landscapes, varied terrain, descents alternating with challenging mountain climbs. Over a good 690 km and 14,000 Hm you will cross 4 nature parks and gather impressions from the southern Odenwald, the Kraichgau, and the Black Forest. Navigation is purely digital. You can stay overnight in a tent, in guesthouses, or even in a wellness hotel.

The nature park gravel crossing takes you from Mannheim to Basel. The 690 km long route with 14,000 Hm is divided into 11 suggested stages. Depending on fitness and desire, these can of course be varied.

When crossing the 4 nature parks, you will gather diverse impressions of the forest and meadow landscape of the southern Odenwald, the wine country Kraichgau, and the densely forested low mountain ranges of the Black Forest.

Along the route, beautiful views and various sights invite you to linger again and again:
The first stages in the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park pass by the Teltschik Tower, which offers a fantastic view over the Odenwald and the Rhine Valley, and the Guttenberg Castle, which towers high above the Neckar. In the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park, you pass the Ehmetsklinge bathing lake in Zaberfeld with the nearby nature park center and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Maulbronn Monastery.
The journey continues through the Schwarzwald Mitte/Nord Nature Park, where the route leads you past the unique high moor landscape on the Kaltenbronn and enchanted cirque lakes.
In the Southern Black Forest Nature Park, you pass the Triberg Waterfalls, among the highest in Germany, and climb the Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Black Forest.

Each stage suggestion ends in towns with various accommodation options. Along the route, there are many Bed &: Bike certified accommodations, some places also have trekking camps or campsites. The huts along the route are particularly quaint. Reservations are advisable during holiday periods.

To avoid putting up more signs in the woods and fields, we have deliberately opted against our own signage for the nature park gravel crossing. Navigation is therefore purely digital.
