The discovery trail emphasizes Gnandstein's special character as a castle village and makes the historical settlement structure comprehensible. Panels have been set up in eight areas of the village, with photos and information on special events and facilities as well as natural and architectural features that highlight the character of each area. The stations include the best-preserved high medieval castle in Saxony, a cemetery in the middle of the fields and the former castle garden on mighty quarry stone walls.
