Etappe 1 - Kocher-Jagst-Radweg: Von Aalen bis Schwäbisch Hall – Durchs obere Kochertal

The feeling of originality and deceleration is what makes a cycle tour on the Kocher-Jagst cycle path so special. You will feel this from the very first day. The first stage from Aalen to Schwäbisch Hall already gives you a taste of the many highlights that await you on your circular tour through our beautiful home region around the twin rivers Kocher and Jagst.

The former free imperial city of Aalen is the perfect starting point for your tour along the Kocher-Jagst cycle path. The good rail connections make it easy to get there without a car and you can set off directly from the train station. Our tip: take a little time and start the day with a coffee in the picturesque old town or the integrative Café Samocca, which creates jobs for people with disabilities.

From Aalen, the route continues downstream for 66 km to the first stage destination in Schwäbisch Hall. On the first day, the cycle path meanders through the partly untouched nature of the upper Kocher valley and has some surprising discoveries in store for you, such as a break in the mobile "quiet room" to pause for a moment or changing to an old bicycle trolley near Laufen am Kocher.

Rustic, half-timbered small towns such as picturesque Gaildorf invite you to take a long break along the way. Stroll through the historic town center, visit an exhibition in the castle or enjoy a bite to eat in one of the many charming restaurants.The destination of the first stage is a real small-town gem. Schwäbisch Hall, with its unmistakable half-timbered silhouette, is bursting with medieval flair. Round off the evening with a leisurely stroll through the old town and a glass of regional wine. Art lovers will get their money's worth at the Kunsthalle Würth.
