Von Altburg über aussichtsreiche Höhen nach Zavelstein

A very varied high-altitude hike with catered huts and restaurants along the way. The highlight of the hike is the picturesque little town of Zavelstein with its spectacular castle ruins. The circular hike has everything to please the hiker: a varied route on the plateau of the eastern northern Black Forest past meadows and fields with beautiful views. These were made possible by the former settlers of the woodland villages of Speßhardt, Weltenschwann and Rötenbach, who cleared the forest in order to be able to farm. There is much to discover in Zavelstein, a picturesque little museum town. The ruins, visible from afar, are waiting to be explored and the keep rewards the ascent with a magnificent view. Along the way, there are always longer, quieter passages through the forest to relax. No more than light luggage is required, as there are rustic huts and several restaurants waiting for thirsty and hungry visitors along the way.
