Description by the author

An entertaining tour with plenty of variety: water, forest and fields alternate along the Saar and picturesque fishing ponds. Difficult passages are rewarded with wonderful views.

The varied tour starts at the parking lot at the Bouser bridge on the Saar cycle path and first takes cyclists to the beautiful fishing pond in Ensdorf, which invites them to take their first short breather.

From here, the route heads back to Bous, where the idyllic recreational area of the Bommersbacher Tal valley is a scenic highlight of the tour. A first ascent follows in the area of the rustic fisherman's hut. Along the beautiful meadows, the route climbs over the Dillmannsborn to the Rotenberg. After the exertions of the mountain stage have been mastered, you can cycle down to Elm in the shady forest along the Bommersbach stream to the Mühlenthal recreational area with Kneipp facilities in the town center.

We pick up our ride again and master the second ascent to the Elmer Fischerhütte, always accompanied by picturesque forest and field passages that quickly make you forget the exertions of the ascent.
After a while, we cross the fields and mixed forests of Morgenstern to reach the Mathildenschacht, one of four shafts of the former "Grube Viktoria" coal mine, which was finally closed in 1972.

The rest of the route leads through the forest via the "Derler Kipp", a slag heap belonging to Saarstahl AG, to the Petershof stud farm, from where you can let your gaze wander.

From here, we also make our way back to the starting point of our tour. We pass the former Heiligenborn monastery with its green area and head down to the Saar. In Bous, there are plenty of opportunities to satisfy your hunger.

The Bous loop also connects to the Saarlouis loop on the Saar cycle path, as does the Bommersbacher Weiher. The section of the route at Dillmannsborn and behind Elm is partly identical to the Schwalbacher Runde. And you can switch to the Lebacher Runde at the highway exit from Elm.
