A short hiking tour close to the village in Bexbach-Frankenholz, created by the Bexbach local history association. The Grubenweg Frankenholz leads over the St. Barbara mine, which was closed in 1959, and thus recalls the mining history of the Höcherberg at that time.
The Grubenweg Frankenholz starts at the St. Josef church in the village center of Frankenholz. For over 70 years, the Frankenholz mine was an important economic factor on the Höcherberg and the infrastructural development of Frankenholz and the other Bexbach districts would certainly have been different without the mine, which provided bread and work for almost 3,000 people in its heyday. The interesting history of the mine ranges from the first attempts at prospecting in the Klemmloch Valley, to the first coal extraction in 1881 in Shaft I, to the dissolution of the mine's independence in 1954 and its final closure in 1959. Ruins, relics and various stations on this hiking trail still bear witness to this today.</p
