Kulturpark Spazierweg

A varied, cross-border walking trail in the southernmost part of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve, which leads through the Bliesbruck-Reinheim European Cultural Park in an entertaining way.

The cross-border Cultural Park walking trail is a varied, shorter tour where you can experience the Celtic and Roman history of southern Bliesgau up close.

The tour starts at the hiking parking lot and leads past the Maison Jean Schaub museum into the park. The bridge offers beautiful views of the Blies. Further on through the small woodland, there is a great view of the three reconstructed Celtic burial mounds. If you like, you can visit the accessible Celtic princess grave, which was found nearby in the 1950s during sand and gravel extraction on the Blies. The tour continues through the excavations, which give a good impression of what the Roman settlement looked like. The tour continues through the park, past excavations and reconstructed buildings, until it reaches the French border. This is where the natural part of the tour begins. With a bit of luck, you may spot some of the swans at the pond and many other animal species in the biotope. The flood troughs and water areas created as compensation measures for the excavations are protected biotopes and attract many water birds such as ducks, geese and herons. Yaks and donkeys like to wallow in the flood troughs of the Blies and are responsible for keeping the areas open and the vegetation low by grazing.
