Easy half-day cycle tour of approx. 24 km in length with no significant climbs through the idyllic Blies floodplains and the Kirkeler Bachtal valley. Wide meadow landscapes characterize the tour and near Homburg-Beeden you can observe free-living white storks, Konik horses, Heck cattle and various bird species. The cycle tour is suitable not only for active cyclists but also for families or older people with experienced legs.
The shady forests in the Kirkeler Bachtal valley, the view of Kirkel Castle, the idyllic Blies meadows towards Homburg-Beeden with the adjacent Beeder biotope are characteristic of this half-day cycle tour. On warm days, there is the opportunity to refresh yourself at a bubbling spring in the Kirkeler Bachtal valley after the start from the train station in Blieskastel-Lautzkirchen. The resort of Kirkel-Neuhäusel with the ruins of Kirkel Castle soon follows along a small marshy area. Kirkel Castle has dominated the area as a landmark for over a millennium. Once a proud symbol of aristocratic power, a possession of the empire and a fortress, today it is a popular and free excursion destination for young and old. Shortly after the castle, the Naturfreundehaus Kirkel with its beer garden and playground invites you to take a break. The route continues in the direction of Kirkel-Limbach through extensive, beautiful meadows, past the Sägeweiher pond and the outdoor solar pool. The route continues through the village for a short distance until the cycle path returns to asphalted farm tracks along the Blies through the idyllic Blies meadows to Homburg-Beeden. Once you reach the Beeder Biotope, you can admire rare animals such as Konik horses, Heck cattle and water buffalo, which graze the land in a natural way, on a viewing platform. Just a few hundred meters from the Beeder Biotope, you can take another break at the Beeder Fischerhütte. A pair of white storks have been breeding on the masts at the fisherman's hut and in this meadow landscape surrounded by woodland for years, which is used to people and invites you to observe them. The way back to Lautzkirchen follows an almost completely car-free 9 km long asphalt road through the Blies meadows near Wörschweiler and Bierbach. The so-called "Blies Valley Leisure Trail" was converted from an old railroad line into an asphalt cycle and hiking trail over 20 years ago and has been very popular with locals and tourists ever since. The Adebar loop is particularly suitable for arriving and departing by train due to the good public transport connections via the two train stations in Blieskastel-Lautzkirchen and Kirkel-Limbach. The cycle tour is marked throughout with the white stork logo and, in addition to the natural and cultural highlights, is characterized by its easy navigability.
