Hangarder Brunnenpfad

On this tour, you will pass idyllic Kerbtäler valleys, striking rock formations, colorful meadow landscapes and ascend to magnificent mountain trails. Highlights of the circular hiking trail are the seven historic fountains that give the trail its name. You will also pass numerous boundary stones.

From Hangard, the gateway to the Ostertal valley, the trail leads past picturesque meadows with winding streams and along natural and varied forest paths. The highlights of the circular trail are the seven fountains. Some of them have existed for 300 years and have given the hiking trail its name:

• Village fountain
• Comradeship fountain
• Ebertsquelle
• Frankenbrunnen
• Karlsbrunnen
• Holler Fountain
• Brother fountain

The path leads past the Stone Man, the site of a Roman stone of the four gods. We also pass numerous boundary stones, some of which date back to 1560. We cross a rock gate at the mighty Zimmermannsfels natural monument. Several vantage points allow us to enjoy wonderful panoramic views over the Westrich as far as the Vosges and over the Ostertal as far as the Hochwald. Four well-placed shelters and numerous seating areas offer the opportunity to take a breather and enjoy the view. On the sensory bench at Klingenschlag, you can unwind and enjoy the magnificent view.
