Z4 Von Römern und Reben

The circular tour under the motto "Of Romans and Vines" takes you along narrow paths and small roads around the Roman, art and wine town of Güglingen.

Your starting point is directly in the vineyards at the "An der Weinsteige" stadium. After a short ascent, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Zabergäu on an approx. 1.5 km long path above the vineyards. The tour continues partly along the quarry. A solitary large old pear tree, a natural monument, shows you the way across an open field to the "Kirschenhöfe". There you turn half-right to the east, cross the state road 1110 (Güglingen - Kleingartach), walk along an earth path next to the fence of an orchard for a while and come to the asphalted "Heerstraße", which leads along the edge of the forest to the Reisenberghütte (barbecue facilities). Here you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Zabergäu as far as the Löwenstein mountains. The route continues downhill along vineyard paths in a south-easterly direction towards Frauenzimmern, from where the tracks of the disused Zabergäubahn and the Zaber river lead you to the idyllic Sophienhof. Cross the Zaber bridge at Sophienhof to reach the popular Zabergäu trail. The Weststraße is the last ascent of your route. The St. Leonhard's Chapel on the summit shows you the way back to the cemetery and thus to the starting point of the hiking tour in the "An der Weinstege" area. From here, it's less than five minutes to Güglingen's attractive town center, where a good Viertele is sure to be waiting for you.
