SB9 Schozachtaler Burgenrunden

In two loops, this hiking trail takes you from Abstatt through the enchanting wine landscape in the Schozach Valley to the ruins of Helfenberg Castle and Wildeck Castle.

The hike starts and ends at the citizens' park in Abstatt, where water playgrounds and many hands-on and sports stations await young and old. The park is adorned with "Rällingen", the large, colorful sculptures depicting enterprising tomcats.From there, the path leads you to the ruins of Helfenberg Castle, of which the residential tower and some remains of the once mighty shield wall are still preserved. Enjoy the impressive view of the Schozach and Neckar valleys as well as the Wildeck Castle opposite. The castle ruins are a great rest stop for families. While the children explore the castle grounds, you can prepare a picnic in peace.

The subsequent second loop leads to Wildeck Castle and Anna Lake. The origins of Wildeck Castle are largely shrouded in mystery. Viticulture has been practiced here professionally for many centuries, today by the State Training and Research Institute for Fruit and Viticulture. The courtyard of Wildeck Castle is freely accessible and is perfect for admiring the beautiful view. The keep and other buildings are not accessible to visitors.At the idyllic St. Anna Lake, you can take a short break at the barbecue area before heading back to the Rällingen in Abstatt.
