Wasserfallsteig

The Urach waterfall is an experience in itself, but in combination with the magnificent views from the Rutschenfelsen rock and the Güterstein waterfall, the tour is a real highlight.

The Wasserfallsteig trail was voted Germany's most beautiful hiking trail in 2016 in the annual Hiking Magazine poll. What makes the Wasserfallsteig so special are the contrasts between valley and plateau, shade and light, forest and meadows, near and far, narrow and wide, quiet and strenuous, flat and hilly and between water and earth!

This circular hike takes us along varied paths through the beautiful landscape of the Swabian Alb UNESCO biosphere reserve to two impressive waterfalls. It takes us into a kind of primeval forest that reveals the small wonders of nature. The steep path leads up the Alb plateau and along the edge of the Alb, where we feel a sense of freedom and are rewarded with endless expanses and breathtaking views over the Urach Alb and the ruins of Hohenurach Castle.

The waterfall trail takes us further into the realm of the animal world, where we can catch exciting glimpses into the lives of the fillies at the Vorwerk Fohlenhof of the Marbach Main and State Stud.

Please note that the waterfall trail is located in a nature reserve and leaving the paths is not permitted. Help protect our nature!
