Description by the author

This idyllic cycle tour takes us into the beautiful hinterland of Lake Constance. From Hagnau or Immenstaad, we hop on our bikes and leave the beautiful lakeside towns on asphalt roads heading north to Bermatingen. The cycle route takes us through apple orchards and vineyards and finally back to Immenstaad and Hagnau.

In Immenstaad, the circular tour starts at an old clockwork mechanism [1], which is on display in the town hall square. If you would like to find out more about this complicated clockwork, you can either pay a short visit to the Immenstaad local history museum or pick up a free information brochure from the tourist information office directly opposite.

We turn left onto the main road and shortly afterwards left again onto Happenweiler Straße. Now we warm up by walking leisurely through a residential area and finally over a bridge. We follow the signs in the direction of the sports center and ride on an asphalt road past orchards. We reach the Immenstaad Adventure Park [2] right at the edge of the forest. If you fancy a bit of a thrill, you can climb a round in the high ropes course at lofty heights. However, you should allow some time for this adventure.

Now we follow the cycle path again on our bikes in the direction of Salem/Ittendorf, passing fields and meadows. In the village of Wirrensegel, which consists of a few houses and farms, we cross the main road and take the next left at the top of the hill towards Bermatingen. At the right time of year, you can buy fresh honey and apples from the region before Bermatingen. We follow the cycle path signs into the center of Bermatingen [3], where a sign at Atoplatz even tells us the direction and distance to Paris and Vienna. However, we stay on our route and continue to Ahausen.

Both Bermatingen and Ahausen have many old churches worth seeing close to the cycle path. Guests also have the opportunity to stop for refreshments in a beer garden. After a small bridge behind Ahausen, the route continues left along the cycle path towards Stehlinsweiler/Stetten. We return to a somewhat more remote area and now follow the paved cycle path, which becomes somewhat hillier. Shortly before the main road, you can take a detour to the Breitenbach Chapel (consecrated in 1521). We then cross the main road and follow the cycle path until a gravel path branches off to the left. The route goes up and down through a short section of forest and continues along the Hagnau fruit and wine trail [4]. At the Starenturm in the vineyards of Hagnau, you have two options: follow the fruit and wine trail to Frenkenbach or alternatively take a detour downhill to the village of Hagnau to take another short break on the shores of Lake Constance. The winegrowers' association, farm stores and restaurants invite you to get to know Hagnau specialties.

(**)From the center of Hagnau, a short stretch of cycle path leads eastwards along the B31 to Frenkenbacher Straße; here we cycle uphill again, past the cemetery, towards Frenkenbach. At Burgunderhof, we meet up with the original route and follow the fruit and wine trail to Frenkenbach. Here you will find the chapel of St. Oswald and St. Ottmar, which is one of the oldest churches in the Lake Constance region. The route continues from Frenkenbach through the district of Kippenhausen. We finally leave the vineyards and orchards behind us on the cycle path and pass the entrance to Immenstaad. There we turn back towards the town center and the tourist information office. Here, after this beautiful tour, we can treat ourselves to delicious dishes and local wine in the many restaurants.

(**) If you would like to start the cycle tour from Hagnau, follow the route description from this signpost to the Immenstaad tourist information office and join the tour from there.
