Donauberglandweg Etappe 1-Vom Lemberg zum Dreifaltigkeitsberg

From the highest mountain in the Swabian Alb along the Albtrauf through the "region of the 10 thousand"

The Hohe Schwabenalb is not only one of the most beautiful, but also one of the most peaceful hiking landscapes in southern Germany. From Gosheim, the home of world-class biathlete Simone Hauswald, a steep climb to the "roof of the Alb", the Lemberg, at 1,015 meters the highest elevation in the Swabian Alb, awaits you from the hiking parking lot. The climb is worth it! The summit is adorned with a steel observation tower, which was built in 1899 by the Swabian Alb Association at a cost of 12,000 gold marks. The view from the lofty heights is incredible. On a clear day, you can enjoy a panorama from the main Alpine ridge chain to the Black Forest and the Neckar valley.

The "Kehlen", the second thousand-metre peak on the opposite side of Gosheim, also awaits you about halfway up with a fantastic view from the summit cross and rest area.

At around 980 m, the "Klippeneck" is home to Germany's highest gliding airfield. The plateau on the edge of the Alb in the Denkingen district slopes steeply down into the valley to the west. This has given the "Klippeneck" a kilometer-long slope edge with magnificent vantage points. Did you know that the "Klippeneck" is also one of the sunniest places in Germany? At the end of the stage, before you descend to Spaichingen, the "Dreifaltigkeitsberg" awaits you with its unique ensemble of monastery, church and panoramic restaurant.
