From the thousand-year-old city of Calbe to the Elbe river landscape

Description

The tour starts with the passage of the Calbe lock. From there on, the Saale river flows towards the Elbe without any barrage - enjoy the welcome support. The Saale finds its way in wide meanders until it flows into the Elbe. With a bit of luck, beavers can be observed. The tour ends at the SSV Blau-Weiß Barby or at the guest pier of the town of Barby a short distance below the ferry. Alternatively, you can continue to Schönebeck and connect to the German Railway network there.

km 0.5 LU - Lock entrance

km 1.2 RU - Boat dock / Registration for lock passage

km 1.4 - Calbe lock (operation 1.4.-31.10 Mon-Thu 7am-7pm, Fri-Sun 7am-9pm / 1.11.-31.3. Mon-Sat 7am-5pm, Sun 8am-4pm)

km 1.6 RU - Boat dock / Registration for lock passage

km 11.8 - Gierseil ferry Groß Rosenburg

km 11.8 RU - Rest area Groß Rosenburg (boat dock below the ferry)

km 16.6 RU - Boat ramp Klein Rosenburg. Short walk to the Ruins of Rosenburg

km 21.3 - Confluence of the Saale into the Elbe

km 22 - Land on the LU above the ferry at SSV Blau-Weiß 04 Barby e.V. / Canoe Department, camp sites, sanitary facilities, small kitchen

km 22.1 - Gierseil ferry Barby

km 22.4 LU - Public boat dock/rest area with parking and pavilion

Safety Instructions

Navigating the Calbe barrage is dangerous and therefore prohibited for everyone.

The Gierseil ferries Groß-Rosenburg and Barby must only be passed on the left bank. From river kilometer 3 to the confluence with the Elbe, landing on the bank is prohibited due to a nature reserve.
