Description

This tour takes you from the legendary Witch Dance Square above the Bodetal valley to Treseburg. Through Altenbrak, you will reach Wendefurth, where you can visit the dam information center or take a rowboat trip on the reservoir.

Route Description

This hike starts at the central trail signpost on the Witch Dance Square. From here, follow the trail marked with the red dot along flat paths past the zoo with a detour to the viewpoint La Viershöhe (view of Bodetal, stamping point of the Harzer Wandernadel).

The path continues past the Arrow Memorial to the viewpoint Weißer Hirsch (view of Treseburg) and from there steeply downhill into the Luppbodetal valley. Shortly afterwards, you will reach Treseburg, where you follow the signage of the Harzer Hexen-Stieg trail to Altenbrak upstream. From the outskirts of Altenbrak, the hiking trail runs between the restaurant Jägerbaude and the guesthouse Harzresidenz over the Osterberg to the large parking lot in the town center.

From here, following the trail marked with the green witch, you will pass by historical old mining structures, pass under a historic water bridge, go past a trout breeding facility with a dining option, and then reach the village of Wendefurth. Crossing Bundesstraße 81, you will reach the Wendfurther dam.
