Description

Previously, the Geisel operated 17 mills, of which five mill buildings still exist.

The hike starts at Lake Geiseltal and leads through Mücheln with its formerly three districts Mücheln, St. Ulrich, and St. Micheln.

The first remaining mill building, the Hohmannmühle, was in operation until 1971. The mill was expanded in the half-timbered style at the beginning of the last century and, due to its size, is a building that characterizes the city. The Geisel determines the course of the hiking trail and guides you to the marketplace with the magnificent town hall.

At the former Gutsmühle, you can experience creativity today. The renovated mill building is a venue for workshops and family celebrations and is a center for creativity, idea exchange, and meeting place. Along the way, signs provide information about all five mills.

During the hike, you will pass by the former Kirch- or Löwemühle, the Floreis- or Apfelmühle, and the Spring- or Elbertmühle. At the idyllic Geiselquelle, you can refresh your tired feet by walking in the water. This is also the endpoint of the hike. Tip: The hike can be supplemented in various ways. Combinations are possible, for example, with the Panoramaweg Mücheln and the Rundweg Müchelholz. The Geiseltalsee is a recreational paradise for cyclists and hikers. Water sports enthusiasts of all kinds will get their moneys worth here.
