Around Kalbe (Milde) - A bike tour to Goliath

Short Description

We invite you to a bike tour around Kalbe (Milde) to visit the remains of the once worlds largest longwave transmitter.

Directions

Our journey starts at the bicycle base at the castle, between MEDIANKlinik and nursing home.

We then continue along the moat. At the old water mill, we cross the Milde river and ride along the park. Then, we cross the Milde river again at the old railway bridge. We continue downstream along the small path between the fir trees and the Milde river. After the big bend, where the Milde river was straightened at the end of the 18th century, we continue to the Goliath bridge. In the background, where the old poplars are visible, once stood the main building of the Marine transmitter Goliath. However, we turn right and continue along the Milde river. We follow the path until we reach the connection between Karritz and Butterhorst. Please turn left here, and then turn left again just before Butterhorst. This way, we basically circle the Goliath area. At the next small intersection, we see the Untermilde on the right. To complete the circle, we turn left again, and about 50 meters away there is a sign. Standing in front of the sign, if you turn around, you can see one of the last pedestals of an antenna mast on the grass to your left. We continue on the path, where the poplar grove begins, and there is the next sign, and a little further another one. A bit further, we cross the Milde river again at the well-known spot, where its a good idea to take a short break as seating is available. Our path leads us back to the fir trees, where we turn left and continue straight until we reach the road to Neuendorf. There, we cross the road, walk a short distance through the Goßlerschen Park past the nursing home Klein Sanssouci, and we have returned to the starting point of our small tour.
