The Garden Dreams are 50 historic parks and gardens in Saxony-Anhalt that describe the history of garden art and various types of gardens.
On this 7-day bike tour, you will experience the most beautiful parks in the Harz foothills. Start your journey in Wernigerode with a visit to the castle and enjoy the unique view of the Harz mountains from the castle terraces. The journey continues to the monastery gardens in Drübeck and Michaelstein. Just a stones throw away is Blankenburg (Harz). Here, you can experience 400 years of garden art in one place. From the UNESCO World Heritage town of Quedlinburg with its collegiate gardens, the route leads on a circular tour to Rieder and Ballenstedt. In Rieder, the theater architect Bernhard Sehring created his very own fairytale castle, the Roseburg, including a romantic park, starting in 1907. Ballenstedts castle park impresses with a water axis featuring an impressive dragon fountain designed by Peter Joseph Lenné.

Thale – Quedlinburg (approx. 13 km)
You are now leaving the European Cycle Route R1 and cycling along the Bode River to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Quedlinburg. In addition to the old town with its narrow streets and picturesque half-timbered houses, a visit to the castle (including admission) is recommended. From the castle hill, you have a magnificent view of the city, the abbey garden, and the Brühl Park. The abbey garden with its baroque main axis and water basin connects the town center of Quedlinburg with the Brühl Park, a landscape park with a baroque star-shaped hunting ground. Especially in spring, when the wild garlic blooms, the flowers lie like a white carpet on the forest floor and spread their scent through the park.

- Half-timbered house museum in Quedlinburg: free entry
