Description

We start the tour directly in front of the Bad Suderode Information Center. From the town hall square, we walk downhill along Brinkstrasse, straight across the market, and behind the waiting shelter at the bus stop onto Bleicheplatz street. From here, we follow the signage of the Selketalstieg trail towards Quedlinburg until the end of Schulstrasse. Then turn right onto Bahnhofstrasse and continue straight. At the large intersection, turn left onto Chausseestrasse. Follow this road out of town in a northwesterly direction and turn left onto the field path just before Baustoffhandel Wuttig (At Galgenberg - since the footpath ends shortly before, you have to walk about 50m next to the road. Be careful!). Now follow the wide field path in a westerly direction, cross Nordhäuser Heerstrasse, and continue straight on the nature trail to Schäfereiche. About 30m past Schäfereiche, the path (Trampalpfad) turns sharply right uphill towards Lämmertrift (viewpoint - great view of the Teufelsmauer, the mill in Warnstedt, and more). From the viewpoint, walk downhill towards Neinstedt / Rumberg. At the end of the descent, continue straight into the forest (narrow path), after a short climb, the path turns left and leads us up to Rumberg. At the highest point, you have a great view of the Brocken, Thale, Rosstrappe, Ruine Lauenburg, ... Then turn right onto a narrow path down to Neinstedt. Keep left at the orchard. In Neinstedt, turn left again onto Alte Ziegelei street. After about 50m, there is an entrance to the hidden clay pit. There are several seating areas here inviting you to a cozy rest by the lake. Continue: turn right onto Stecklenberger Strasse, after about 40m turn left over a small bridge (weathered no entry sign), then cross Ostring street towards Siedlung street. Turn left and follow the street out of town in a southerly direction. At the end of the village, follow the signposted hiking trail to Stecklenberg. In Stecklenberg, walk through Schulgasse to the church, then through the spa park to the Calciumquelle (marked: 3-Burgen-Weg: small trail marker 8x9cm). Before the spring, there is another rest area at the quarry. But there are also seating options right next to the spring. Behind the spring, the path turns left towards Bad Suderode. Initially, it goes steeply uphill, then follow the well-signposted and comfortable forest path to Suderode. At the entrance to Suderode, turn right onto Lauenburger Strasse, Tempelstrasse, Rathausplatz.
