Description
Ride comfortably on a circular tour for about 33 kilometers in approximately 5 hours and discover beautiful places.
Directions
1st Station: Follow Dahrendorf Asphaltstraße K1001 towards Harpe: Border between Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony (GDR/FRG, now Green Belt Germany) visible at the wooden viewpoint platform and yellow stones (about 1.5 km after leaving Dahrendorf, platform can be used at your own risk): in Wendland: beautiful cherry tree avenue in front of Harpe on the K7.
2nd Station: Continue on Harpe Kreisstraße K7 towards Harper Mühle.
3rd Station: Harper Mühle - old mill in the idyllic Dumme valley from 1767: privately owned: natural alder carr forests to the right and left of the mill: millstone grown into a tree on the right: continue straight on the K7, then turn right towards Thune using the K25.
4th Station: Continue on Thune Asphaltstraße K25: alder carr forests to the right along the former inner German border at a distance of about 300 m: in the center of Thune, beautiful fieldstone chapel with lawn picnic area: leave K25 and continue towards the Dumme river to Barnebeck passing by the old Barnebecker Mühle on the Dumme.
5th Station: Old Barnebecker Mühle Dumme divides Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony: idyllic place: use the Green Belt sign regarding the Barnebecker Mühle (history of the place): continue on the main road towards Barnebeck onto the K1002.
6th Station: Drive through Barnebeck Dorfstraße completely: fieldstone church in the center of the village: shortly before the village exit sign, turn left onto the field path towards northeast: follow the field path straight for about 1.5 km: then slightly more northward: towards the deserted village of Groß Grabenstedt: varying road conditions on the way.
7th Station: Groß Grabenstedt Former village directly at the border installations: deserted since the 1970s: pay attention to the Green Belt sign regarding Desertion/Abandonment: operation of a large agricultural unit on the outskirts: old brick stable still present in the village and reference to Farmstead No. 4. Do not follow the village street 2 further, but continue east on the old fieldstone road: varying road conditions on the fieldstone path: after about 800 meters, turn left towards L6 towards Klein Grabenstedt: just before that Old Bergen Station (Dumme).
8th Station: Old Bergen Station (Dumme) Pay attention to the Green Belt sign on the L6 at the level crossing regarding Old Bergen Station (Dumme) and Amerikalinie: the station ruin is a little further: Klein Grabenstedt is already in sight.
9th Station: Klein Grabenstedt Idyllic village with a lovely fieldstone church just before Lower Saxony. Very beautiful path through the AuenDumme lowlands to Bergen (Dumme): cobblestone pavement: Moor meadows and marsh lowlands alternate on both sides of the road (called Upper Dummeniederung).
10th Station: Bergen (Dumme) Village Bergen (Dumme) with beautiful half-timbered houses, lovely Pauluskirche in Swedish brick style (open daily): hairdresser, post office, pharmacy, bakery, butcher, horse riding stable, heated outdoor pool Tannenbad, various restaurants (e.g. Nigel or Schützenhaus), kebab shop, exhibition Inner German Border at the bus stop towards Salzwedel and the beautiful antique cafe De Lütt Laden (delicious cakes & good coffee): leave the village on the B71 towards Uelzen: use the last road on the left and pass by the senior residence to continue 2 kilometers west towards Oldendorf on the field path: varying road conditions on the way.
11th Station: Oldendorf Small village: turn right towards Oldendorfer Mühle at the Schnegaer Mühlengraben (part of the Lower Saxony Mill Road) about 400 meters away.
12th Station: Oldendorfer Mühle Privately owned, passage with bicycle allowed: idyllic location with mill ponds and beautifully restored buildings: continue 100 meters north along the forest edge: then turn left and use the forest path to the K7: head towards Schnega. 13th Station: Schnega Village in the Schnegaer Mühlenbachtal with the Ute Röhl shopping store, gas station, banks, Dunschen restaurant, antique shop, lovely church: beautiful pond by fieldstone barn, picnic area with seating behind it: continue southward on Lange Str. then Am Hasch towards Billerbeck: use the railway underpass in Billerbeck. Interesting side trip: Schnegaer Apfelallee: continue on Schulstr. past the pond towards Oldendorf: 200 meters behind the village, turn right towards Leisten: different apple varieties on both sides of the path: general sign for the Apple Alley available: then return to Schnega and head south.
14th Station: Billerbeck Use the railway underpass: continue south on the K44 towards Warpke. Interesting side trip: Scene-Nature Experience Farm Understanding Nature in Billerbeck: In the village 14 | Tel.: 05842. 1206 | Nature & Ecology: its best to call before visiting.
15th Station: Warpke Drive into the village: small farming village with intact farms: choose the southern path towards the forest about 300 meters: keep right at the former border strip and follow the perforated plate/convoy road for 200 meters, then head south through the forest towards Dahrendorf and back to the 1st Station Dahrendorf. Done!

We are in the northwestern corner of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. A few meters separate us from Lower Saxony. You can use all available bike paths. From the north (Lüchow/Dannenberg), take the B248.

Coming from the east (Berlin/Osterburg/Arendsee/Salzwedel), take the B190.
By train
About 6 kilometers from Dahrendorf is the Schnega-Bahnhof railway station. Trains stop there every two hours from Uelzen/Lüneburg or Salzwedel/Magdeburg. If you let us know in advance when you arrive, we can pick you up for free from the station (shuttle).
