Short description

We invite you to a bike tour to Könnigde to Joachim Hennigs von Treffenfeld, Major General in the Brandenburg army (*1615 - 1688).

Description

The small Altmark community Könnigde, near the town of Bismark, is located in the Stendal district. Here lived a famous Altmark citizen - Joachim Hennigs von Treffenfeld. It is recommended to arrange a meeting with the members of the Treffenfeld Association in advance to coordinate with the associations chairman Harald Schulze.

Directions

Our journey begins at the bike rental point at the castle, between MEDIAN Clinic and nursing home.

We then continue along the castle moat. We cross the Mild at the old water mill and ride along the park. Then we cross the Mild again at the old railway bridge. We continue downstream on the small path between the fir trees and the Mild. After the big bend, where the Mild was straightened at the end of the 18th century, we continue to the Goliath Bridge. At the Goliath Bridge, we cross the Mild, where there is also a sign for Goliath, the worlds largest marine transmitter of its time. There are seating areas available for a short break.

However, we turn right and continue along the Mild. We follow the path until we reach the connection between Karritz and Butterhorst. Please turn right here. After a short distance, we cross the Mild again and reach Karritz and the Secantsgraben. There, we cross the main road and continue towards Berkau. Our path takes us through a forest area on the Bismarker Höhe. In Berkau, we arrive at the old train station, then we drive to the town center, turn left, and follow the bike path to Wartenberg. We pass through the village and then turn right behind Wartenberg. Be careful here, as there are several field paths, please take the one furthest to the left. This field path then leads us directly to Könnigde. In the center of the village, we find the clubhouse of the Treffenfeld Association and not far from there, the beautiful little church where Joachim Hennigs von Treffenfeld is buried.

With prior arrangement, you can visit the clubhouse and the church. After a rest, the return journey leads back to Bismark. Here, you can visit the golden louse (remains of a pilgrimage church) or make an appointment at the beautiful local museum in the market. It is advisable to arrange an appointment in advance with Mrs. Rothe Tel. 038089 40663.

Now head to the main street and follow it left towards Döllnitz, Poritz, and Karritz. Here you will reach the return route and find your way back to Kalbe (Milde).
