Short description

Circular hike around Bad Suderode (stamp point No. 187)

Description

From the tourist information, follow hiking trail 50 N (European long-distance hiking trail E 11, blue dot) to Stecklenberg (Tempelstraße, Lauenburger Straße, Emthöfer Breite, Elfenwiese).

Caution is advised at the entrance to Stecklenberg. The hiking trail ends at a road with no footpath. Here, turn left and follow the road downhill for about 100 meters. A few steps lead up to the hiking trail towards the spa park behind the junction to the Calciumquelle. The trail runs above and initially parallel to the road. In the spa park, there is a very nice model of Lauenburg. Turn left behind the church (Stecklenberger Wurmtal) and initially follow the signs towards Georgshöhe / Hexentanzplatz / Friedrichsbrunn (green triangle). The trail forks before the Wurmtalkaskaden. From here, Lauenburg is signposted (blue dot, E11). From the ruins of the outer bailey (accessible), you have a magnificent view of the Harz foothills. At the foot of the outer bailey is the stamp box (No. 187) of the Harzer Wandernadel. A detour to the main castle is highly recommended.

From there, return to the junction towards Lauenburg / main trail and follow the signs of hiking trail 51 A (Hiking trail of German emperors and kings, symbol: golden crown) towards Wolfsbergblick. From the Wolfbergblick, you have a beautiful view of Quedlinburg and the Harz foothills. From the viewpoint, return to the trail and turn left. Unfortunately, there is no signage until you reach Alten Steiger (Red Steiger)! Therefore, always follow the main trail and only turn left onto Alten Steiger at the large intersection (red square, green dot). Follow this trail to Bad Suderode.
