Description

Lignite and the chemical industry have shaped Central Germany for decades. The stations of the KOHLE | DAMPF | LICHT - cycle route provide interesting insights into the structural transformation from an ecologically heavily damaged region to wonderful recreational landscapes. Company settlements at former power plants invite you to visit, the sight of former large-scale mining equipment leaves visitors amazed, and the numerous mining follow-up lakes have become attractive for bathers, water sports enthusiasts, and nature lovers.

Over 160 km, the KOHLE | DAMPF | LICHT - cycle route connects most of these stations and passes through wonderful recreational and leisure areas.
