Our most popular city tour gives you a good first impression of the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Experience the historical history of Ottos city of Magdeburg and learn about the backgrounds of impressive buildings during the walk.

You will travel through the citys history on foot: The tour takes you to the Old Market with the Magdeburg Horseman and to the Johanniskirche, where Martin Luther once preached. You will encounter Romanesque buildings such as the Art Museum Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen and learn more about Hundertwassers ideas of architecture in harmony with nature, which he realized in the Green Citadel of Magdeburg. The tour ends at Domplatz in close proximity to the citys landmark, the over 800-year-old Magdeburg Cathedral.

Directions

From the starting point at the Tourist Information at Breiter Weg 22, we walk to the Old Market, the Old Town Hall, and the Magdeburg Roland. From there, it is only a few meters to the Otto von Guericke Monument. Then we turn right and follow the path to Johanniskirche. After sufficient observation of this, we turn right again and cross Ernst-Reuter-Allee towards Allee-Center. Next, the path follows a park-like area to Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen. We then turn west towards Breiter Weg, more precisely towards the Green Citadel of Magdeburg. Finally, we walk along the citadel to Domplatz, from where we can view the Magdeburg Cathedral St. Mauritius and Katharina.

There is a large parking lot on Johannisbergstraße (subject to charges), as well as in the parking garage of Allee-Center Magdeburg (subject to charges).
