Description

The Garden Dreams comprise 50 historic parks and gardens in Saxony-Anhalt, describing the history of garden art and various types of gardens.

Start your bike tour in Magdeburg and cycle along the waterways junction to Burg with its four former garden show areas. Learn on your way who inspired Theodor Fontanes Effi Briest and visit the late Romanesque Jerichow Monastery. The route continues through Bismarcks birthplace Schönhausen to Tangermünde with its medieval-like cityscape. On your way back, discover Briest with its Renaissance castle and landscape park, as well as Tangerhütte with its city park. Conclude your journey in Magdeburg with a visit to the Elbauenpark.

Route Description

Day 6

Bertingen – Magdeburg (approx. 39 km)

Today you cycle again on the Elbe Cycle Path.

A few kilometers after Bertingen, you reach Rogätz, where you cross to the other side of the Elbe with a ferry. You pass through the Herrenkrugpark on the eastern bank of the Elbe to reach Magdeburg. The park is a popular destination for the people of Magdeburg and their guests. Nearby is the Elbauenpark, created as part of the 25th Federal Garden Show in 1999. The area, formerly used for military purposes, has been transformed into a unique, blooming nature and leisure park.

In addition to creatively designed gardens and natural Elbe floodplain landscapes, you have the opportunity to embark on an interactive journey through the sciences in the Most Intelligent Tower in the World. Numerous events/concerts attract thousands of guests every year.
