Description

Heres what you can discover:

  1. Shepherds farm
Old manor house from the Thuringian period (5th century). Later used as a shepherds farm. Stones from Altenburg were probably used for construction. Extensively restored after 1990.
  2. Schützenplatz
The shooting house is located on the scattered fruit meadow. The Langensteiner shooting club was founded in 1817. Originally, shots were fired from the window of the shooting house onto the concrete base.
  3. Cherry orchard
The large fruit plantation was later partly planted with pine trees. The Siemensstein is located on the northwest side.
  4. Forbidden path
South of Langenstein ran the border between the Duchy of Brunswick and the Kingdom of Prussia. Since there was no customs house on this road, it could not be used by everyone.
  5. Breakfast linden tree
The individual trees in the landscape delineated the shepherds territories. They were gladly used by the laborers as shade providers for eating the snack bread.
  6. Brockenstedter Mill
Here was the village of Brockenstedt. After the village fell into disrepair, only the mill remained. Milling rights were something special and were not quickly given up. The last owner left the mill in 1970, after which it was demolished.
  7. Goldbach and Goldbachwiesen area of natural beauty
Goldbach is home to rare fish and crustacean species. Kingfishers, wagtails, and water rails breed here. Remarkable in the lower part are the very old and extensive black poplars.
  8. Echo bridge
The Echo Bridge is the most significant structure of the Halberstadt-Blankenburg Railway. The line was opened as a private railway in 1873. The bridge is the passage for the Goldbach.
  9. Donkey path
An ascent to the Altenburg. Since the castle had no well, water had to be brought up the mountain with donkeys.
  10. Oil mill pond
It served as a water reservoir for the oil mill located on the other side of the street. The mill wheel was later replaced by an electric drive. Milling operations ceased in 1965.
