A hike of around 9 kilometers from Torfhaus via the Goetheweg to the Brocken.
From the west, from Torfhaus, Goethe once set off for the Brocken. At the B4, there is already a beautiful view of the Brocken. The popular Goetheweg trail follows the Abbegraben. Goethe did not know this watercourse - it was built in 1827 and is now part of the new World Heritage Site Upper Harz Water Management System. A wooden walkway leads through the Große Torfhausmoor. Peat used to be mined here, today the valuable moors of the Harz are under strict nature protection. The path leads at the foot of the Quitschenberg to the Eckersprung. The hiker now crosses the former inner-German border. The Goetheweg runs along the Brocken Railway at the Goethemoor. The forest opens up, increasingly heath areas become visible. The last section must be completed by the hiker on the Brockenstraße. The Goetheweg is part of the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg.
