Short description

Drive to the most popular bathing lake in Wittenberg, a former open-cast mine in the south of the city

Description

The approx. 34 km long circular tour leads in the first part on the well-developed long-distance cycle paths R1 or Berlin-Leipzig via Pratau to Bergwitz, then around the lake with swimming opportunities and boat rental and back via Eutzsch.

Directions

Until Bergwitz, follow the R1 and Berlin-Leipzig cycle path markings. From the market, head south to the Altstadt train station, cross the level crossing and B187 and turn left after the pedestrian traffic light towards Bad Düben/Jessen. At the intersection, turn right over the Elbe bridge to the roundabout in Pratau, then turn right towards Seegrehna. Follow the cycle path signs via Klitzschen to Bergwitz train station. Use the underpass and continue straight ahead, then turn right onto Waldstraße until Waldhaus with signpost. Continue right, left (Strandweg) to the lake with swimming area and snack bar. Keep right and pass the campsite on the asphalt road (R1) to the railway underpass. Leave R1 there and continue on an unpaved forest path. Turn left behind the barrier into the forest towards -->: Hoffmannshöhe viewpoint until Marina-Camp. Turn left there onto the paved road (Hallesche Straße and Wittenberger Straße) straight ahead on the road-side cycle path to Eutzsch. At the entrance to the village, turn left onto Eutzscher Dorfstraße, first right and then left again onto the cycle path along B2/B100 to the level crossing, then turn right towards Pratau. In Pratau at the marketplace/church, turn left through the underpass to the roundabout and over the Elbe bridge back to Wittenberg.
