Short description

The adventure, cycling and hiking trail Coal | Fire | Lakes to the former lignite mines of the city of Kemberg within the Dübener Heide Nature Park is both an independent themed circular route and a connection to the major adventure route Coal | Steam | Light | Lakes.

Description

On the approximately 20 km long, partially asphalted route, there are three interactive stations:

• Tracing the coal at the forest house by Bergwitzsee
• To keep the fire burning at Friedrichsee
• Formation of the lakes at Königsee

The information boards illustrate the history of formation and mining of lignite, its later use, and the recultivation of the open-cast mines. Daylight peepholes and old photos provide interesting insights here.

Directions

From the first station, the Bergwitzsee circular route leads to Reuden, Rotta, via Lubast (with the oldest still producing pottery in Saxony-Anhalt) to Frieddrichsee. Here, at the Childrens and Youth Recreation Center KiEZ Friedrichsee, is the second station with a movement module that invites active exploration.

From Friedrichsee, you will reach the third station at the Heidegaststätte with campsite Am Königsee via a few kilometers of forest path.

From there, continue to Uthausen, after crossing Bundesstraße 100 past Roter See and back to Bergwitzsee with campsite and sailing community.
