The circular path around Lake Goitzsche leads through one of the largest landscape art projects in the world in terms of area. It shows the structural change of the past decades and makes the transformation of the former industrial landscape into the cultural landscape of Goitzsche tangible.

As a section of the COAL | STEAM | LIGHT | LAKES - cycle route, the Goitzsche Lake circular route can be ideally combined with a tour around the Muldestausee.

You start at the harbor of Bitterfeld and are led south around the Great Goitzschesee. Along the way, you also briefly pass by Lake Seelhausener. In Pouch, it is worth driving to the Red Tower. The tower is a remnant of an old castle complex from the 13th century. The Pouch peninsula is located exactly between Lake Goitzsche and Muldestausee. A stop at the Schachtbaude Pannekoek on Muldestausee is worthwhile. Nature enthusiasts should make a stop at the House by the Lake in Schlaitz. Here, the history of the transformation of the Bitterfeld landscape from a mining empire to a natural idyll is told. Just before Bitterfeld, a detour to the book village Mühlbeck is recommended. Book lovers will find everything imaginable printed on paper here: novels, textbooks, non-fiction books, postcards, or curiosities. The water level tower at Lake Goitzsche is the final highlight of the tour. If you still have energy, you can climb the 144 steps of the Wedneltreppe and then, at a height of 26 m, enjoy a great view of the Goitzsche Lake region.
