The jewel in the crown of Essingen's Quirinus Church is the almost life-size late Gothic Christ on the cross with his real hair, while the 600-year-old Gothic frescoes in the choir of St. Mary's Church in Essingen cemetery, which has otherwise been demolished since the mid-19th century and opens its doors on special occasions, are also impressive. The frescoes are an art-historical rarity in terms of their execution and state of preservation.The hiking trail leads through a largely unspoilt and extremely diverse landscape with wonderful views and vistas, and in the Weiherwiesen nature reserve we learn about this geological feature of the Swabian Alb.
