Tour de Waldkirch - West

Beautiful tour into the Wegelbach valley. On the Herrenwegle with a detour

To the Martinsbühlhütte in the Suggental. Along the Elz river to the Galgenbrücke bridge, along the Stadtrainsee lake back to the market square.

This easy but varied tour starts at the market square in Waldkirch. Passing the church of St. Margarethen, we soon reach the Black Forest Zoo, which is well worth a visit with its numerous animal and plant species. The path leads us above the Stadtrainsee lake into the Wegelbach valley. At the (former) Iron Cross, we keep to the right, walk a short distance up the Wegelbach and turn left again into Herrenwegle.

At the next major crossroads - there is a bench here - we turn left onto Kreuzwaldweg, which climbs a little steeply and joins Brennwaldweg. This leads us to the right to the Martinsbühlhütte, a great place to rest. Here you will also find the stamp station for this tour. We can get drinking water at the fountain. After the rest, we take the path to the right, which leads us down to the "Am Felsenwässserle" station and back onto the Herrenwegle. Now we follow the signs again to Suggenbad, where the beautiful beer garden invites us to stop for a bite to eat.Our path now leads us over the Elzsteg (snail bridge) to the other side of the river. We now walk upstream on the embankment, cross the Elz at the next bridge, stay on the other side of the river, pass the allotment site and soon reach the Galgenbrücke bridge. From here, we follow the signs to the Stadtrainsee lake with the opportunity for a short boat trip, mini golf or a breather on the lake terrace.

We soon arrive back at the market square via "Goethestraße", "Schwarzenbergschule" and "Mohreneck", where our tour ends.
