Description by the author

Always along the Rems... Through meadows, orchards and industrial pioneers.

This fairly flat stage follows the Rems upstream for long stretches, often parallel to the B29 traffic axis, which crosses the Rems valley in an east-west direction. You can board the S-Bahn at each stage location.Starting at the Schwaneninsel in Waiblingen, the route leads through the tree-lined floodplain past an outdoor pool and beer garden. Newly designed rest areas invite you to discover hidden gems of nature. At the entrance to Beinstein, a three-arched stone bridge spans the Rems. The listed building is reminiscent of Venice, which is why it is also known as the "Rialto Bridge". The path passes Beinstein without directly touching the town and crosses a river landscape characterized by fruit cultivation. The wooded hills of Korb, which is connected to the cycle path via a loop, rise up in the background.Just before Endersbach, another bridge construction catches the eye. The 38 m long "Stuttgarter Holzbrücke" connects the stage with the "Birkelspitze" at the confluence of the Haldenbach and Rems rivers. A spacious leisure area with a rest area, event stage and beer garden has been created here as part of the garden show. Well worth a visit.

At the end of the village, there is a large beer garden at the former Endersbach quarry. The location couldn't be more beautiful. Nature beckons on the banks of the Rems. Here you can explore the Rems by canoe. After a break, the trip continues with refreshments. The landscape is very green: gardens alternate with orchards; the Rems flows quietly on the right. The cycle path climbs slightly.

In Großheppach, the "Mühlwiesen-Areal" was brought back to life as part of the garden show. Here, the Rems is completely flat, with terraces and stones as a water experience. An adventure playground, restaurants and an event stage on the sandy Rems beach form an ensemble against a magnificent backdrop of historic half-timbered façades. As the journey continues, the main road gets closer - the hum of the engines gets louder. Between Remshalden and Geradstetten, the landscape is dominated by orchards, fields and espalier cultivation. Opposite the Geradstetten hydroelectric power station, the "Besagärtle" with its large open-air terrace invites you to take a relaxing break. A little later, the cyclist is greeted by the loud chirping of birds from the Vogleschutzgebiet - a refuge for rare water birds. For the first time on the tour, the Remsbahn comes into view. You can hardly hear anything of the noisy main road.

A little further on, the cycle path passes through meadows between the railroad line and the Rems, which has been extensively renaturalized here. It has been given back its original bed and young trees have been planted. You soon reach Winterbach and pass the market square. An ensemble of tranquil facades characterizes the square. On the onward journey, there is a small climb to overcome in Weiler. The first buildings of the pretty Daimler town of Schorndorf are soon in sight. The Oskar-Frech-Bad is the perfect opportunity to relax tired and tense muscles. The ultra-modern new indoor pool with restaurants, the brick lake and the sauna garden form a water and leisure landscape for young and old alike.

The stage ends at the Arnold-Areal, to the left the path leads to the train station. If you still have time and leisure, you should marvel at the half-timbered backdrop on the market square or pay a visit to the Daimler birthplace and museum. Inns and cafés also look forward to your visit.
