This can only be found in the Rems Valley: pleasure meets a place of growth and prosperity. The third of three beautiful hikes in the Rems Valley for nature, pleasure and wine lovers. The rule here is: don't rush, take a break!
PLEASE NOTE: This tour is a suggested hike created by the RAUS geht's magazine published by the Waiblingen newspaper publisher and is not explicitly signposted.
The wine village is located in the west of the Rems Valley and borders the eastern foothills of the Fellbach Kappelberg. Towards the south, it climbs up into the Schurwald forest. To the east of the wine village, the slopes also drop steeply, with the Yburg in the middle.
It is teeming with excellent wineries. Three of them are located along the route on the map. Weingut Medinger, Weingut Zimmer and Weingut Eißele. Where you start the circular route is a matter of opinion. "Raus geht's" suggests the parking lot in the town center at the Kreissparkasse. The best way is to follow the Haldenbach "downstream" to the Seemühle, i.e. along the "Way of St. James" (in the opposite direction). The Zimmer winery is located in a residential area on the outskirts of the village. The culinary offerings range from good Swabian food to delicious wine. The range of wines is of course "excellent" in the truest sense of the word. If you come outside of opening hours, you can "pull" a good drop from the wine machine.
Cross the fields to the west, the village on the left, to the Eißele winery, also a classic family business, like almost all wineries in the Rems Valley, run by the brothers Edgar and Jochen Eißele. Their vineyards are located in the districts of Stetten and Strümpfelbach. Visually, you are greeted by a typical wine press building on site, run as a wine tavern and "institution" in Kernen with the typical culinary offerings.
Back to Stetten, we don't take the shorter route, but the more beautiful one to the "Blaues Loch" forest playground known to all Rems valley residents. Via the Harthau viewpoint and the "Wengerter-Häuschen", we head towards the village center, where the Medinger winery has been "making wine" since 1764 and is firmly rooted in Stetten. On the way back to the suggested parking lot, it may be worth making a short detour to the food vending machine at Gasthof zum Ochsen, below the Protestant church, with delicacies from the associated butcher's shop
