Korber-Kopf-Route

A tour through the wine-growing region of Winnenden, Korb and Schwaikheim.

The starting point of this cycle tour is the train station in Winnenden. The first or, if you prefer, the last highlight of the tour awaits you here with the Fire Brigade Museum, which is always open on Sundays. From the train station, keep right to reach the Korber-Kopf route, which first leads past Winnender Castle with the castle church and the famous Jacobus Altar (key for viewing is available at the clinic gate).

You cycle along the Zipfelbach stream through orchards to Hanweiler, which you cross until you reach the heights alongside vineyards. At the top, you pass a wine press and cycle through a small forest to the Hanweiler Sattel. The annually changing sculpture exhibition "Köpfe am Korber Kopf" invites you to take a short descent (approx. 1 km one-way) into the vineyards and enjoy a short break with a beautiful view.

For those who prefer the shade, take a break later at the Korber lake square, which was redesigned for the Remstal Garden Show 2019 and offers places to linger. For those interested, it is also worth taking a short detour to the district of Kleinheppach and the Stone Age Museum, which houses one of the most important private collections of folkloristic and prehistoric objects in the country.

From Korb, the tour then leads in a wide arc towards Schwaikheim. On the left-hand side, you will see the Söhrenberg, which has a small but attractive educational wine trail. The 1.5 km long fruit tree nature trail in Dornhau is also worth seeing and invites you to take a break. From there, the route leads to Schwaikheim and back into the Zipfelbach valley to Winnenden train station.
