Description by the author

Enjoy hiking on the second stage from Strümpfelbach to Schorndorf-Steinmäurich. This stage takes you through vineyards, forest and orchards.

Leaving Strümpfelbach with its historic buildings, you head east. Passing the outdoor pool, you walk through the middle of the vineyards until you reach the edge of the forest on the heights. Walk north along the edge of the forest to Karlstein with its viewpoint, where a unique panoramic view of the Rems Valley awaits you. The route now takes you back through the forest and then downhill towards Schnait, which you pass halfway up through extensive orchards.

At the end of Schnait, you pass the sports field, cross the Beutelsbach stream and enter the village, which is home to the Silcher Museum, which is well worth a visit. The hiking trail continues past Schnait and along part of the winegrowing and sculpture trail towards Saffrichhof, where the local winegrower and hobby artist Ludwig Heeß has carved some of the winegrowing life of bygone times in stone.

Shortly before the Saffrichhof farm, turn right into the forest towards Manolzweiler, a district of the municipality of Winterbach, and you will come to Engelberg - once a place of worship, monastery and hunting lodge of the dukes of Württemberg. From Engelberg, the route descends through orchards towards Winterbach, which is not touched. However, it is worth making a detour to the village and local history museum, a lovingly designed gem that tells of everyday life in times long past.Past a reservoir with rest stops, the route heads back into the forest towards Schorndorf, the birthplace of Gottlieb Daimler. At Steinmäurich (refuge), continue along the path parallel to the L1151 road to the "Vier Pappeln" bus stop with a view of the Rems Valley. Then head south through the underpass to the Spittler Stift bus stop. You will reach today's stage destination if you follow the Schwäbischer Albverein e. V. hiking trail to the left towards the city center (marked with a blue line)
