Description by the author

Hiking enjoyment on the first stage from Fellbach to Strümpfelbach. You can expect wine-soaked views of the Rems Valley, idyllic villages and artistic features in the vineyards.

Start your hike at the church square in Fellbach. You first hike uphill on the so-called "Kaisersträßle" and continue along the Fellbach Wine Trail, including the panoramic terrace. The Fellbach "Lämmler" vineyard is one of the top vineyards in German viticulture. Enjoy the wonderful views of the vineyards towards Stuttgart (Rotenberg, Mercedes-Benz Arena) as well as the adjacent "Goldberg" vineyard towards Fellbach and the Neckar valley, then continue past the Esslinger Tor gate on well-surfaced paths towards Schurwaldhöhe to the Kernenturm tower. Built in 1896 by the Swabian Alb Association, this lookout tower offers a fascinating panoramic view of the Rems valley - if you are willing to climb the 158 steps to the top.

From here, the route descends again towards Kernen im Remstal. As you leave the forest, you are greeted by a wonderful view of the district of Stetten with the Y-shaped castle, the historic landmark of the wine village. At the bottom, you cross the village. From the center of the village uphill again in the direction of the Y-Burg, you will pass the "Museumswengert", a terraced vineyard that is home to historic grape varieties. Enjoy the view of the Rems valley once again before heading uphill again, past the "Sieben Linden" (seven lime trees) towards the edge of the forest.

The path takes you straight to Lobenrot, a small, idyllic district of the Schurwald municipality of Aichwald. From Lobenrot, you walk downhill again, partly on the cultural landscape trail opened in 2010, towards Strümpfelbach, a suburb of the town of Weinstadt. Halfway up, you pass the sculpture avenue, where ten bronze couples greet hikers. Past the Naturfreundehaus, the path leads you directly to Strümpfelbach, today's destination. The old "Wengerterdörfle" village captivates every visitor with its charming alleyways, vineyards and well-preserved half-timbered houses.
