Kraichgau-Stromberg: Elsenztal-Tour

On this tour, you follow the Elsenz from its source to its mouth. You cycle through beautiful nature and many historic places. The start is in the village of Elsenz, around eight kilometers by bike from Eppingen or Menzingen train station.

On the western edge of the village, the little river rises inconspicuously, almost modestly, and flows into the Neckar a good 50 kilometers later. Shortly after the source is the Elsenzsee, a popular bathing lake.

You cycle almost exclusively downhill to Eppingen. The old town fascinates with its pretty half-timbered houses. The river, and therefore the cycle path, takes you through peaceful landscapes where you can relax and unwind while cycling. This secluded idyll is interrupted time and again by a small town where you can treat yourself to a coffee or a hearty meal.

Just before the end of the tour, it gets a little hilly again. Finally, you can enjoy a descent to Neckargemünd, where the Elsenz flows into the Neckar. Take some time to stroll through the beautiful old town before taking the train back home.
