Enzweihingen, which was first mentioned in a document in 1152, was the site of a rest stop on the important military road from Cannstadt to Mainz in Roman times. The town passed from the hands of the Counts of Vaihingen to Württemberg in the 14th century. It was the largest and most prosperous village in the Vaihingen district, but suffered great losses in the 17th century due to the Thirty Years' War and the Palatinate War of Succession. It was largely destroyed by a fire set by enemy soldiers in 1693. The population became impoverished.
