VAI-Tour

Want to explore the whole of Vaihingen with all its districts in one day? The VAI tour makes it possible! A circular cycle tour for all those who want to enjoy the countryside but are also looking for a sporting challenge. On this tour, which is around 50 km long, there are quite a few meters of altitude to overcome. The magnificent natural landscapes and impressive views between the local passages are the reward for many a hill climbed.

The "VAI Tour", developed in collaboration with the Vaihingen Cycling Sports Club, invites you to take a tour through Vaihingen and its districts.Whether with sporting ambitions or just for pure pleasure - the almost 50 km long circular cycle tour is fun! Many a hill has to be climbed, but the effort is rewarded: at the top, there are always impressive views over the fertile fields of the Strohgäus, the fascinating elegance of the vineyards or far into the gently rolling hills of the Stromberg.

Start at the Vaihingen market square, from where the trail leads along the River Enz to Roßwag. Via the "Roi Igel" viewpoint, the route finally descends to Aurich and into the idyllic Kreuzbach valley. After a short detour to the tranquil Riet, the VAI tour follows the Strudelbach towards Enzweihingen, where it passes the gem of the Leinfelder Hof with the destination Kleinglattbach. The next stage destinations are Lake Ensingen and the magnificent vineyards of Horrheim. The Klosterberg is crossed and after the Seewald lakes, the Steinbachhof soon comes into view. The tour approaches Gündelbach, where the path leads along the vines of the Wachtkopf into the village. Via the Fleckenwald forest and the Wachtkopf, the route descends to the last remaining district of Ensingen. Back in Vaihingen, after around 3 ½ hours, you have exactly 49.8 km and an impressive 560 meters of altitude on the clock.

As an alternative to the full tour, you can cycle the VAI Tour North with 24.4 km and 240 meters of elevation gain or the VAI Tour South with 25.4 km and 320 meters of elevation gain. The northern variant leads from Vaihingen station via Kleinglattbach to Horrheim, Gündelbach and Ensingen back to the starting point. The southern VAI tour starts in Vaihingen and passes through the districts of Roßwag, Aurich, Riet and Enzweihingen.
