OD3 - Bernhardsweiher Tour

A panoramic tour over the Derdinger Horn through the typical Kraichgau landscape with vineyards, orchards, forest and fields.

The circular trail starts directly at the wine plateau on the "Derdinger Horn", with a wonderful view over the Kraichgau as far as the Odenwald. Here there is an educational wine trail with a vineyard calendar, which provides lots of interesting facts about viticulture. Along the vineyards, past imposing dry stone walls, you reach the Bernhardsweihersee, a peaceful little forest pond once created by the Cistercian monks. After a short stretch through the forest, you reach a paved natural staircase and continue along the edge of the forest to the "Rodel" viewpoint, from where the view extends towards the Palatinate Forest and the Black Forest.Further along the trail, you reach the Geological Window, which, like a gateway, provides an insight into the strata of the Middle Keuper and shows the structure of Stromberg and Heuchelberg.

If you would like to take a short break beforehand, stop at the barbecue and shelter hut at the edge of the forest before the path descends back to the wine plateau.
