Quietly and inconspicuously, it makes its way: the Silent Brook. The small body of water in Weingarten enchants with its unique atmosphere. Its construction is also outstanding: over 1000 years ago, the Benedictines of Weingarten Monastery built a canal system that is now one of the oldest non-Roman canal systems north of the Alps. With their technical calculation, they created a versatile system that supplied the town with water for centuries and at the same time supported important agricultural tasks. The hydraulic engineering history hiking trail along the man-made Stiller Bach stream reveals its hidden secrets and thus marks an excursion destination that invites you into the world of engineering history and an idyllic natural landscape at the same time.
