Description by the author

The 1st stage of the Bühlertalwanderweg (BTW) leads over the Büchelberg ridge and past the source of the Bühler river.

The hike begins in the deeply incised Kochertal valley at an altitude of around 375 m and leads up to the Büchelberg ridge, which is over 500 m high and offers magnificent views over the densely wooded Keuperbergland and the nearby Swabian Alb. The hike is particularly impressive in spring, when the first flowers bloom in the Blinde Rot valley. After descending from the Büchelberg ridge, you reach the Bühler spring, which is somewhat hidden in the forest. After another extensive wooded area, you reach Pommertsweiler.
