Naturparke-Gravel-Crossing Tag 11 - Von Todtmoos nach Basel (Badischer BHF)

The final stage of the "Naturparke-Gravel-Crossing" with 90 km and approx. 1100 m elevation gain from Todtmoos through the Hotzenwald to Bad Säckingen awaits you. You reach the Swiss border and follow the EuroVelo15 from Bad Säckingen to Basel (Badischer Bhf).

The last stage starts in the climatic health resort of Todtmoos in the Wehratal valley. You leave the town and follow the forest path that winds uphill to the Freiwald chapel. The pass connects the Upper Wehratal with the Murg Valley. The following kilometers you gravel through the species-rich moor landscape of the FFH area "Oberer Hotzenwald". If you like, you can make a detour of a few meters to the Schwarzenbächle waterfall. After another 5 km, you leave the fascinating landscape of wild raised bogs and fens, where another short detour to the Gugelturm tower, including a panoramic view and snack bar, awaits you. The route then continues past the Sankt Wendelin chapel and the Klausenhof open-air museum to the Hornberg basin, the upper reservoir of the Wehr pumped storage power plant, which you will reach shortly. The route now takes you gently downhill along the Dinkelberg towards the Rhine. Before you reach it, however, what is probably the last ascent of the "Naturparke Gravel Crossing" to the mountain lake above Bad Säckingen awaits you. After a short break at the lake, the route takes you downhill to the old town of Bad Säckingen, which is known for the longest covered wooden bridge in Europe. This is where the actual Black Forest Bike Crossing ends. For the last 35 km, you follow EuroVelo15 parallel to the Rhine to Basel (Badischer Bahnhof).
